Once when I was on a crew...or actually in charge of several crews working on one big project.
Well, I was riding the property with a civil engineer in his new Grand Cherokee which was provided by the firm that employed us. The project was in the initial stages and was basically just woods and red dirt roads.
We finished our meeting and the engineer drops me off at my truck and heads towards the office, he is trucking down one of those red dirt roads clocking 30 or 40 mph wich is way too fast, especially when there is a steel cable across the road connected to big steel posts....bammm!
The cable clothe lined the shiny Cherokee just below the hood, blew out the windshield, even bent the windshield posts and tore the luggage rack off....the engineer was not harmed and I must also say that he was and is a really great engineer, a great person, and personal friend....but that was hilarious once I knew he was safe.
When kids ask our crews what they are doing, they normally tell them surveying. Well there is one party chief that always tells them that they are building a new park, the kids get all excited and run off. I was with him one day, he did his normal spill to some kids, about an hour later here comes the kid with his daddy. It took about 15 minutes of convincing him that his kid misunderstood us, we were building a parking lot.
