So what? Up your prices. Do it right. Don't shortcut your work.
When our prices get high enough, it'll attract 'em!
Until then, let our numbers shrink.
I'm seeing 2 basic kinds of persons with PLS attached to their name.
1.) Surveyors, who are lousy business men.
2.) Business men, who are lousy Surveyors.
Rarely, do we find both, in one person.
We don't want to attract any more number 2's.
But, we do want to teach more number 1's to be business men.
Somehow, there's a conflict in the soul of a business man, doing good work. When he sees the money running out...

The fascination for each set of job skills is an odd combination. Hardcore business types generally don't appreciate the combination of skills required to be successful at surveying and vice versa. I'm one of those jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none type of guys. Will never be the absolute best choice for each of job skills but can do above average in nearly all areas of interest. Maybe I have attention deficit disorder when it comes to doing only one thing all of the time.

That is called a job stack. While not the best at any one, taken as a whole it becomes impressive. Everyone has a job stack, it is as important to know what is not in yours as what is. If you know what is not in it, you can hire to fill the deficits and learn from them.

That's what I did 48 years ago at age 18, and I didn't even know I would be a surveyor. Still married to her :heart:and have been in business for almost 30 years.
My job stack does not include mechanic or ambulance worker. Fortunately, others have those in their job stack.
