Just messin' around with City of Scottsdale coordinate system (still can't make heads nor tails of how the coordinates are derived) I came across this. Kinda nice for historical buildings and how they were used by USGS and C&GS.

USGS Benchmarks and the Territorial Buildings of Arizona (azbackcountryadventures.com)

All of the monuments are listed in the publication link here: Results of spirit leveling in Arizona, 1899 to 1915, inclusive (usgs.gov)

Hey MathTeacher; stay in your own state. We have enough trouble without you stirring the pot.

The Tombstone Courthouse that you show a full picture of is also a control point. NGS did not have a good description of what the top looked like so I sent them some post cards in 1999. PID CG0957.

Stay well

JOHN NOLTON
