The Ohio FS exam is the NCEES national exam. Check http://www.ncees.org/Exams/Study_materials.php for the NCEES suggested study materials. The national exam is constantly changed to reflect changes in the industry. Very likely anyone that has not taken it within the last two or three years will not be aware of the current content.

The FS study guide they sell on the NCEES web site. It not only gives you sample problems, but shows you how to solve them and that is the key.

I put together a 1 hour free webinar with advice for those studying for one of the licensing exams.

You can find that here.

You will be required to provide a name and email address but we promise not to share that information with anyone else.

Also, as some of the others mentioned, you might wish to consider
NCEES Fundamentals of Surveying Sample Exam. But do not open it and begin studying. Watch the webinar first for what I believe is a better way to use that resource.

Cole also has a sample exam you might find useful.

The Van Sickle book that used to be called 1001 Solved Surveying Problems is also a good resource. It is now Surveying Solved Problems for the FS and PS Exams.

Finally you might wish to consider an exam review class. We have a 3 day class for the FS exam takers, a 1 day Hydrology class for those in states which test that topic and a 2 day PS exam review.

Hope that helps.

Thanks everyone. Are there no state specific questions on the FS exam?

Larry,
Thanks for the Webinar. It was very helpful in laying out what to expect and how to approach the test, along with choosing helpful literature. I will be placing an order with you shortly for some books.

No, there are no state specific questions on the FS. The FS exam is written by NCEES. The content of the exam is the same for every state. It would make no sense and be profoundly unfair to have questions specific to Florida (for example) on a test taken by someone in North Dakota.

As for the book order, if you experience any problems with the website, please send an email. I found out today there have been some issues for the past week or so. Everyone should know that we process the orders by hand so if things go slightly wrong, worry not. Let us know and we can make everything right before cc processing or shipping out books or videos.

The 1001 solved surveying problems, as Larry mentioned, is what I used to study with (when I took it the 2nd time) when I took the exam.
I read the book for 2-3 hrs every night before going to bed. Took me 47 mins on the morning session, 58 mins on the afternoon session. First time I took it I didn't study and didn't pass, the second time it was a breeze and walked out knowing I passed. Good Luck.
