My office yesterday. Man, this surveying thing is rough; extreme weather conditions, predators, rugged terrain, working without coffee... oh, wait.
Amazing views, thanks for sharing!
Nice! I would love to Survey in Hawaii. I guess the housing market down there is as bad as where I live now though.
A coworker and I were up topoing a bridge and surrounding area about 10 miles west of Lake Cascade (Idaho) yesterday and we had just set up the base in a clearing when we turned around and about 150' away there were a pair of moose standing there checking things out. We looked at them for a moment and I turned to grab my phone out of the truck for a picture and I guess that spooked them because they took off into the woods. Some whitetail deer were poking around later on too.
Anyway, definitely the most gorgeous time of the year to be doing mountain work.
Mrs. Cow did me a great favor early this morning to go about seven miles to a pasture where a cow had calved late yesterday. We needed to know if she was feeding her newborn correctly. Her calf from last year had died after only a couple of days. In this intense heat, no fresh milk in one day could be fatal.
She reported she saw more than 30 Whitetail deer just on the way over. One here, two there, etc.
Turned out that Mama and Baby were doing fine.
