I'm going to the Owens Valley tomorrow. Just found out this afternoon.
It is very pretty over there.

Owens valley is a great spot... desolate Mojave desert ...
That drive fromn Lone Pine around the North end of the dry lake down into the Saline valley and Death Valley is one of my favorite drives...it's gotta be 150 degrees down there these days...but Panamint Springs can serve up an excellent cold beer to push back that sorta heat.
Surveying there Dave? where abouts?

Greetz Christof..
...yep...my partner of the last ten years is working in West Alaska on Historical surveys training a new guy and I'm making big cadastral squares in the Arctic with a new guy...
here's a couple pics from Ralph
Ditto on the Owens Valley. The drive between Indian Wells and Lone Pine is interesting to say the least. There is also the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest north of there near the Bishop area. If I remember right, the park area where you could drive to was at least 10,000 ft. in elevation. I camped there one night a while back. The view out to the West towards the Sierra's is just awesome.
There are a lot of very cool things to see on east side of the Sierra's.
Roughly in the middle; exact location is confidential.
Not boundary.
Those pictures are excellent. Makes me want to stay in the survey game. Looks like you get some fun projects.
