To do it!
I went to an industral site yesterday and did my final safety training and met with the surveyor. They need help because he has gotten too busy. I was nervous mostly about how much time I might need to spend merging into the control. The area has a nasty looking Geiod shape butting right up agaisnt the mountains and the site is old, so who knows how the control was established.
The surveyor and I got to talking and he has all the areas set up with State Plane NAD83 tied to OPUS. They are using Geoid 03 and he had set up permanant points that all you need to do is set your antenna on. They even have a male quick-release end mounted. Only hard thing was to figure out the measure up for our antennas; he was using the antenna phase center and a different brand. But that worked out well also.
I just set State Plane in the data collectors with Geoid03 and typed in their control point numbers.
EASY!
On the way home:
The canyon is really dry this year such a contrast from 2011:
Still some snow left; temps dropped to 37 on the ride home:
don't you love working with people who do things the right way!
It does make things run smooth.
