We hired some young girl to answer the phones for us in the mornings. I haven't been too impressed with her phone answering skills. Well, she may have done something this morning that really takes the cake.
About 10:30 she buzzed me and said, "there's an engineer on line 1 that wants surveys for three (national bank chains)". I look at my phone and there are NO lines active. I say, "well, you must have hung up on him". Said engineer never called back. At this point, I hope he was on a cell phone and lost service and got tied up the rest of the day. Hell, I hope someone was playing a joke on me rather than her running a client off.
Check CallerID?
Well then which are you?
Doc, Grumpy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy or Dopey?
I vote for "Grumpy."
I thought that someone would come back with that after I posted it.
Touche.
We don't have caller ID. This might be the time to check into it.
I once asked my teenaged stepdaughter to utter a single sentence without saying the word "like" more than twice. She replies "so you want me to like say a sentence like without saying the word like?" :-S
Give her a break..just talk to her.
Did the guy call back? If so, no harm done. If not, he was low ball shopping anyway.
Isn't there something like *69 (I might have the code wrong) that redials the last caller?
Well...it's probably too late for that now anyway, but you might find out if you have that ability for future calls.
Aside from caller ID, *69 should get you back to the caller's line.
Also, corporate phone bills generally have itemized calls. Of course waiting to get your bill will be way too late.
But, all this type of data is now computerized....perhaps it can be accessed right away if you can get to the proper person at the phone company.
Ask to review the "LUDs" (Local usage details) , CDR's (Call Detail Records) or SMDR (Station Message Detail Recording). They should be available to the owner of the line.
