Amazing that so many people smelled gas and no one called 911 before the explosion. I post this here as a reminder for safety since many surveyors work at construction sites where other contractors are also working.

Wow, that reminds me of a late night filling the truck up at a local convenience store and smelling a hellacious amount of NG downnwind of a valve station, in a pretty stiff wind. I grabbed the emergency number from the PLM and gave them a call. The guy who answered the phone siad it wasn't them. When I mentioned the proximity of the valve station he said it must be someone else. I told him the odor was very heavy, and he replied they don't put any odorizer in their NG transmission lines .. I just gave up after that.
