Hi all
The last few times I have been out with our GPS (Trimble R6) I haven't been able to use the GLONASS satellites. The controller will lock on them, but not use them.
Has anyone else experienced this problem lately?
I have tried turning off the GLONASS satellites and then turning them back on etc. but it still will not use the GLONASS satellites. So instead of using 12-14 satellites it is only using 6-10 satellites, but will be locked on 14-18.
The unit was recently sent in for warranty repair on the antennas and I was wondering if they changed something on the reciever when the they repaired the antennas.
We have a TSC 3 with Survey Pro software on it.
Guessing a bit here, but have you checked for firmware updates? There was a potential leap second issue at the end of June last year.
Have you given the receiver time to download almanac files, again a guess, but maybe they got deleted when the antenna work was done.
I had the same issue earlier today. Turned off the Glonass and continued the rest of the day without a problem.
RTK processing is done in the receiver itself, not in the data collection software, there must be something with the rx. May be warm-cold reboot of the receiver will do.
or may be Mr.Putin let those corrupt GLONASS guys go, and they revenge by switching it off/on 🙂
I have been having the same issue with my Topcon Hiper II base since last Oct.
Been working with the dealer on it ever since to no avail. My other two rec work fine
so I think its an issue with this particular rec .. not the Glonoss sats. Not much help to your issue .. just thought I'd throw it out there.
No Glonass, Survey Pro 5.XX?
Thanks for the replies
I found out that it is a firmware issue. When they did the warranty antenna work on our GPS receivers they updated the firmware. The problem is that our version of Survey Pro 4.11.2 doesn't read the latest firmware correctly and does not use GLONASS satellites.
I was told by our dealer to upgrade to Survey Pro 5.2, but when I tried Survey Pro 5.03 on a demo earlier this year I did not like it at all and much prefer the 4.11.2 version. Has anyone used Survey Pro 5.2? Have they fixed the bugs? I hated the fact that you could not edit or delete points because they were dependent on other points.
I was thinking of just downgrading the firmware on the GPS recievers to what they were using. What is the advantage of upgrading firmware on the recievers? The GPS unit was purchased approximately 1 year ago so the firmware should be somewhat current.
I would prefer to keep our current Survey Pro Software that we have set up to our liking, but if updatding the firmware is that big of an issue maybe it would be better to update to Survey Pro 5.2.
