Good news for anyone else waiting for replacement batteries - just had an email from Sokkia:
We have been working on this for quite some time and I am glad to inform you that we should be able to supply all of our dealers in the next 4 weeks or so. These batteries are not your run of the mill, they’re considered smart batteries which means that they have circuits which allow it to interface with our units.
We will be sending all of our dealers an exact date as to when we will be shipping the batteries.
