What kind of company has HR people doing interviews for survey positions????

That was in 1972 for an engineering position, asked by an engineering group head who HR scheduled me to talk to.

@rundatline

I'm not going to tell on anyone but practicing surveying without a license is taken seriously by the NC board.?ÿ Obviously any sort of a, "He said, she said" scenario is not going to go anywhere but it is not a requirement that I must personally suffer damages to have a complaint reviewed.?ÿ?ÿ

What gets me on this one is that the buyer is already committed to the purchase.?ÿ The survey would be performed after closing so it would not be a deal breaker for the agent.?ÿ The buyer's instinct is to get it surveyed before construction begins but the real estate agent has convinced him that it is unnecessary.?ÿ Many surveys are not necessary, but this is an odd shaped lot in the NC mountains.?ÿ Exactly the kind of lot that can be tricky to place a house on.

?ÿ

@murphy

But depending on the exact words the real estate agent said, there is a good chance he wasn't "practicing surveying" under North Carolina statutes. Has the board ever tried to go after someone for something like this?

@rundatline

True.  It is the real estate commission that raps knuckles and clobbers some really, really bad characters.  A fellow I know who has been an agent for forty years and a broker for about thirty years got nailed big time in recent months.  Simply got too cocky and finally got the penalty.

What's an HR man?

From the Human Resources department of a company.

To quote labor songster Utah Phillips, people treating you as a resource will strip mine your soul.

Since the board doesn't have authority over non licensed individuals, they have to pass it up to the state.  Typically, the DA will only go after a slam dunk case.  They popped a fella who running around with his metal detector and charging people to find their corners.  Out of state engineering firms seem to be the most common to be prosecuted.

Our RE commission just whacked an agent for $2500 fine for flagging corners. We should just take finger like the Yakuza...
