I know that project!!!
I got one from Home Depot, the guys kept standing on the instrument case.
"That's what I was thinking, but maybe the lift is just at the heel. I'm going to get some, wear only one, and swagger about like John Wayne"
That's awesome, be sure to get good and hammered first. Have someone video it and post it here. If possible, try to walk across a crosswalk when there's a cop car waiting. ?????ÿ
I used to work on a crew that did DOT stuff with EFB. We'd set up our backsights early in the day along with MOT signs. The Party Chief was a grump and would be on his phone and still wearing flip-flops when we'd arrive, rarely getting out of the truck. So a couple of us would see how low we could set up the backsight while He was distracted or not paying attention. It was a bit of a competition and fun to hear His reaction when we'd tell the height to the I-Man who was setting up the book & collector. We would debate that the backsight height shouldn't matter and if I'm the guy behind the gun all day and can see it okay for our check-ins then who cares, arguing DOT didn't have a standard for that. Only worked once every few weeks or we'd piss Him off too much and it would lose the joke factor. In those situations, you'd wanna be sure the instrument height was comfortable. Some of those were some lengthy setups with a multitude of chains running simultaneously, tons of ground shots & features, etc. Good times...?ÿ
