Some corners for a Section 17
The east 1/4 didn't look like much:

Flip it over to expose the "west" face and carefully brush it:

The NE corner a nice "4by4" stone-the south face:

the east face:

The NW corner:

I wonder how this happened-near the NW corner:

and the W1/4-no marks but it sure fit and was firmly set and properly aligned, it was in very poor condition so I set a new monument and buried it alongside:

Mighty tough neighborhood near the NW corner. Even the rocks get knocked around willynilly. The scenery might be awesome, though.

Ha!! In the eye of the beholder on that one for sure!
Didn't take many photos of land but here are a few:

and a couple from fall 2012; very, very dry year:

Since then; lots or moisture and the grass is starting to come back, this spring, if it ever gets here, should produce good grass year down there, I could see a big difference form 2012.
Easy surveying country, no trees, not too many hills, just deep ravines you have to head around or pick your way through.
Looks like Eastern Montana.
Looks like Eastern Montana
Ha, nope! But yeah; similar! One big difference, no farms, farmers aren't allowed!!
Reservation or Park?
Private ranch lands; mixed with some state and unfortunately some federal.:-(
Nice finds and nice photos. The second landscape photo from the bottom makes it look like it's real cold out, or a least a bit nippy.
Great job! Love the photos!
I wish it was a bit colder that day, was covered with mud getting flipped up from the 4-wheeler tires.
About 25 in at the start, about 40 when I finished around 3. Perfect weather for work actually.
I did work up a sweat at the northeast corner; I had to set a monument there cause it is on a rock outcrop and no way to rehabilitate, had to beat a rebar into the sandstone. lol, My arm refused to swing any more after I got 16" of the 2 feet in.
I called it the point of refusal.;-)
