I am using magnet field with a sokkia data collector. What I need help with is how to comp a point at a certain distance on a line. I am able to comp points at each end of the line and the middle of the line but not at a certain distance on that line. Any help would be much appreciated?ÿ

First of all, this should be in the software forum.?ÿ Not general surveying. But here you go

Use the Calculate menu, point in direction.?ÿ From point (start), azimuth of line (or azimuth to point on the other end), Forward distance.?ÿ Use up if you want to change the elevation from the start point (negative numbers being below.
You can change the category of Azimuth to Azimuth to point by simply clicking on it.
