If you get or already have the adapter card that goes in the gun that accepts a more modern CF card you can use one of these:

@jimmy-rodgers

Not sure - the software is from 2012 and i think it was written for Win 95.

that being said "I think" we used this on a Windows 7 machine at some point. I do have the software for it as well, somewhere

I bought one of these from eBay last year:

https://www.amazon.com/USB2-0-Interface-PCMCIA-Flashdisk-Storage/dp/B07CKSF3LX

It works with Windows 7 and also reads my old PCMCIA cards.

I have stuck with the Leica 1100 series instruments because of my love affair with TP Stakeout and my hatred of ongoing licensing fees. I found that unless you are trying to get data off an old PCMCIA card, then your best option is to use a CF Card Adapter. Like this:

https://www.amazon.de/Compactflashger%C3%A4te-Speicherkarten-Projektoren-anzubinden-CompactFlash/dp/B00270DD1Y

They're all over eBay as well.

Then your only problem is finding small (and obsolete) Compact Flash cards that are no bigger than 32mb, because the 1100 instruments won't read anything bigger. You'll find those cards on eBay (second hand) for a few dollars each. You should snap them up while they are still in circulation.

I have an OmniDrive (USB version), works good and is only solution for the older PCMCIA-SRAM memory cards used in Leica gear in the early TPS series. I also have a PCMCIA to CF adapter and use that in older equipment with a CF card that was designed for a PCMCIA form factor card (Leica DNA levels for instance). I then pull the CF card out and use a CF to USB adapter to get data onto PC and is method used to transfer from instruments that directly take a CF card too. These are the best adapters I have found for CF cards to USB: https://pixelflashtech.com/

I used a $7 Walmart version like this from 1999 until last year for my 1103.

I don/ know about those cards, but small USB sticks don't seem to be going away from Ebay. I thought I was buying 8 Gbyte sticks and got 8 Mbyte ones! Oops.
