Fellow Beer leggers,
What a tremendous effort by the organizers at SHS to put on such a world class event. In my humble opinion it was simply "over the top". The research that went in to locating the original corners/points used by Mason & Dixon was simply stunning for such an organization.
Access was obtained to many rare and seldom seen (at least by the general public) items and locations such as the Christ Church burial ground and the second floor of Independence Hall where many large pre 1776 maps of the colonies are hung.
But perhaps (at least for me) the single greatest exhibit/activity was the private viewing of Rittenhouse's Orrery (celestial computer) at the Univ. of Pennsylvania.
The level of craftsmanship and sophistication of design for the 1770's is amazing. This is one of two units produced by Rittenhouse with the other located at Princeton Univ.
Additonally, I had the pleasure to meet some fellow beerleggers such as "Bill93" and Grant who are real gentleman.
If you ever get a chance to attend one of these events, I strongly encourage it.
Respectfully,
James Vianna
This event was very well planned and executed from the welcome social Wed. Evening to the "survivors" party Sat. Afternoon.
