Hi All

I am looking for any suggestions to get rid of a bit of mold visible in the optical plummet.

( I searched under mold and mould?ÿ :)?ÿ )

If you search under mould you'll find the eyepiece!!

Sorry!

?ÿ

I've had it happen a couple of times and leaving the tribrach indoors in a warm room eventually shifted it, but there was always a slight dirtyness (presumably dead material) there ever more. Only stripping it right down would get rid of that.

Thanks Chris. That may be where I end up. I was wondering if there was a majic remedy about.

I was wondering if anybody had tried an ozone generator.

Intresting thought - it might work, let's see if somebody posts to say they have tried one.

BUT, it still won't remove the dead detritus left when the mould dies - that'll still need a strip down job. At least you've learnt to dry the gear out thoroughly after use; you won't do it again.

Q tip up the bottom side will clear the field of view usually.

My mold guy said they use a UV light device to kill mold in duct work. I would imagine that would be a prefect solution for a tribrach. I would do it even if you believe the junk you're seeing is dead mold, to get rid of that will probably take some deconstruction.?ÿ

Only if the mould is on the outside of the plumb lens - I'd assumed tazsurveyor had already worked that out and the problem was that mould was still visible (as a result of some damp inside the system).
