I made my second trip to triangulation station "Meades Ranch" in central Kansas last Friday. The first being nearly 20 years ago in 1992. This time I fully documented the location with photos and wrote a little history. Enjoy!

Howdy,

Nice folks. Interesting old architecture.

The question is "Where's WALDO?"

Cheers,

DMM

Very nice Jerry. I'll have to make it a point to stop and see it if I'm ever in the area.

I hadn't heard that name in years. It wasn't in connection with a tri station. That was/is a big ranch.

Nice work, Jerry.

That old school building actually looks as if it's got some more use left in it if someone can find a purpose.

When I went to the location with the landowner, his dog named "Popeye" jumped out and promptly walked right up to the brass disk and licked it! I had my camera set on b/w mode and snapped an image just as he was turning away. I guess that was his way of approving, whereas peeing on it would have meant disapproval.

Thanks for this thread.

I've been nearby, but, never to the actual site. Being on private property, not just anyone is encouraged to go traipsing about as if they own the place.

One error needs pointed out. In your photo looking due east you indicate this is in the SW 1/4 of a section in Township 9 North. Just because everything in Nebraska is in a North Township does not mean it carries over into Kansas. Try Township 9 South.

Thanks for catching that typo. I am not used to writing about anything "South" of the border.
