There was some controversy, years ago, when the ??preservationists? were aghast at the ??surveyors? plans to drill and otherwise mark the monuments to make them more useful for surveyors. Some were already ??defaced? with survey disks.?ÿ

I recently visited two of the monuments. I'm glad to see efforts. Being from PLSSia these monuments were a great day trip.?ÿ
