We had an unusually warm early February and I was able to get out on a project and do my corner searches. At all the positions I needed to look for corners the ground was uncovered....then we got three storms, the last one was yesterday and looked like this:

About 6 inches of wet snow during the 4 hours I was setting final corners and doing some checks. At least the wind wasn't too bad. Only problem was I didn't have my googles. Nothing better than working on a day like that! 15-25 degrees and snowing. Perfect!

Google can find survey monuments now?

Crazy people. 15-25 with snow is sit-around-the-office-and-follow-Beerleg weather around here.

I was practically running to the truck to get to the field when I saw the snow coming down. On my way back to town I stopped at a gas station and ran into a client who had spent the whole day working on a reservoir project. He was covered with mud, but had the biggest smile because he got to spend it outside that day. I suppose it's just a western thang.;-)

Yeterday in Seward I was digging 4-6 foot deep holes in settled snow base looking for corners. The icing on the cake was the 4" of ice to chip through at the bottom of the snow before you get to the frozen ground that you also have to chip through.
Lesson: be careful bidding ALTA's in the winter during record snowfall years.

There's snow and then there's what you guys get. I can't even imagine working in that.
