I found an exceptional example of what some East Texas Cypress trees aspire to.
?ÿ
That's quite a tree. It might well be several centuries old.
I remember seeing a similar one in some bottom land in SW Arkansas, many years ago. The landowner had put up signs along the highway, and charged 50 cents or a dollar to look at it. He claimed it was the largest tree east of the Rockies. Don't know whether that was true or not.
What a great find and they don't have to be big to be ancient.?ÿ We have numerous bald cypress in NC that are over a thousand years old.?ÿ One has been confirmed to be at least 2624 years old. It's hard to imagine that there are trees in America that were alive when Nebuchadnezzar II built the Hanging Gardens in Babylon.
She's a beauty.?ÿ Thanks for sharing.?ÿ By the height of those cypress knees it must be in a area that is usually inundated most of the year.
?ÿ
Yes. The area is normally under water. We just happen to be in a record setting drought condition.
The knees are bigger around then some cypress.
