Unless there's some significant vertical relief across the site are you sure that leveling would improve much on the robot measurements??ÿ Are the areas you work in fairly hilly?

1) Itƒ??s fairly hilly. CSF of 0.99991466 for the one site

2) the level check/adjustment is to account for any measuring error from setting up the RTS and BS but Iƒ??m usually pretty meticulous when setting up. In fact sometimes Iƒ??m seen as overly meticulous setting up and checking into other points. Haha. One guy used to grumble at me because every setup I would at least turn to a known point to check my rotation. LoL

@on_point that is good practice. ?ÿChecking to a third point especially on control that you have not had a chance to verify on a site. ?ÿMy first time out on a job being back in private practice. ?ÿI set up over a point to backsight vertical and hz distance all checked very nice. It was just some additional topo as i walked to the area where they needed more data i went to a third point yep you guessed it missed it north and east several tenths so almost a half foot straight error. I went to another point same error. I moved and set up on those two distance was good vertical was good turned to another point it was good. But first two points were not. ?ÿI did topo got back to office and told them what i saw. Office guy said we never have problems. Well I went and pulled up the tbc project guess what. It was two grid points that were brought in from original rtk but no rtk observations but ?ÿother points had rtk observations and they had scaled to ground. The two other points did not scale. ?ÿThe reason was they had already scaled those in field but from a different location. So the shifts were the issue. Of course they never did a third point ck or they might have caught it. I was the new guy part time this old dude that had not surveyed in years so explaining to a ls that you can not scale from two different locations and expect the data to match. The one point grid to ground has caused more issues than it has helped because some people donƒ??t understand when it is ok and when it is not. They also donƒ??t understand its limitations and what it is actually doing. It would be better if they had to go through and do it old fashioned way. Only way i could show the ls was take that same data and scale from 4 different points export each time and place in excel and show how the north and east changes from each location. I also inversed all distance between them to show they on that site were all similar no matter where i scaled from. Then i re did exactly what they had done and showed that. Then the light bulb came on and then the boundary issue on one side they were having was no longer an issue from previous surveyors distance and such along a line or two.

I have checked into points before that had a lot of error. I guess from somebody blowing a setup or just sloppy setups? ????
