Any Leica users notice a massive change in the quality of service you get, or is this perhaps limited to my area?

At least out here, Leica corporate seems to have taken over Haselbach who used to run things, and since then I have noticed a very marked decrease in service.

My service and support is great. Of course I deal with the Leica office in Houston and Jeff Ryall is top notch.

I have never used Leica main support except for some email exchanges.

Thanks Matt. This is why I asked. I was wondering it this is just a local thing.

Brian,
I purchased my equipment through the Kuker-Rankin folks in Ore/Wash area. They've been real good. I'm in N. Ca and was at the border of the 2 dealers, either Haselbach or K/R, and I chose K/R because of their response to my initial requests. I haven't regretted it one bit as they have always been just a phone call to an answer.

I agree, the folks at Kuker Rankin are topnotch and very knowledgeable about their product. Anybody that thinks Leica has a steep learning curve, needs to talk to these guys. I've never had to deal with anyone that wasn't local, all my questions were answered by these guys.

Do you know if they were recently sold back to Leica, and the former owners there are now employees? I am curious if this was a national deal, or just in certain markets.

I wasn't aware of any sale, but I haven't talked to them in a while.

I will be, in the next couple weeks. If I hear anything I'll send you an e-mail.

Edit-If you look through their web site, it doesn't look like it. They still sell other stuff, like HP Plotters. I don't think they'd do that if they were owned by Leica.

My support is pretty good (I think). I purchased my unit in Phoenix, but I have dealt with Jeff Ryall here also. Agreed top notch. I don't have Nick Cournoyer far behind though.

As for the Leica takeover, I thought they were taking over ALL of the dealerships. I may be mistaken though.

This is what I would assume too. It is something I am curious about, because the difference is clear before takeover and after in this area.
