Have any of you used the above instrument for a "poor mans scanner". I use one daily, but haven't looked into how it is done yet. Waste of time, best thing ever. Your thoughts?

The TS15 does have the grid scanning capabilities in the motorized version but it only runs at 1.2 hz (1.2 shots per second). I had quoted this at 1.1 hz on an earlier post but I double checked the specs. So that equates to 14 minutes per 1000 shots. For say stockpiles… this may be something you can live with for production.

The TS15 and the grid scanning application is a good product. The scanning would be good for small scans or for scans with a larger point interval... say an interval of .2 ft and .2 ft. over a 100 ft area.

There is something coming soon. We saw it at a Leica training last week. The product will be officially launched in 2 weeks. This product will be what you need to look at for your question.
