I sold a GPS500 earlier this year in Germany. I threw a Leica GEV71 in the box for free.......sorry!

Here is a potential solution for you. No soldering:

https://www.lartikata.xyz/external-power-le52x-cable-with-alligator-clips-for-south-s82-s86-gps-to-pdl-hpb-p-766579.htm

Or buy two of these (one for the TPS and one for the TCPS26B):

Ask them for a wiring diagram to make sure. But it is probably fine.

These cables do not have diode protection.

@micheal-daubyn-2

Thanks, but that 1st link is for South, not Leica, so I'm not sure if it will be compatible.

2nd link - there is 5pin 0B LEMO, I need 5 pin, but 1B size LEMO :/

GEB171 have 2 connectors - LEMO and that "U", about which you are writing :)?ÿ

Of course I want to buy LEMO female 5 pin 1B connector and solder cables to it. Cutting off cable for 300$ is not an option 🙂

@john-putnam?ÿ I know, But still far & away superior to SLAs, which I used for years before discovering LiFePo.?ÿ Worth the wait for ground shipping!

@djdan

I did mention that you should email them for a wiring diagram.

If you buy the second cable that I linked, you can use it for the TPS.

You can also cut it in half, and splice in a DB9 plug for your positive, negative, RX and TX to your Parani.

After all, does the GEV187 carry power at all to the DB9? I'm not sure that it does. If it doesn't, then you need to run a battery for the Parani. You have an opportunity to run it all off the car battery with one neat cable, but you might want to restrict the voltage to the Parani. Perhaps from 12/14.5 down to below 9V.

As long as the cable that I linked has the RX and TX wires still in it. They usually do, because they are usually USB cables with different fittings put on them.

It's the cheaper and easier option.

@sergeant-schultz

We should start a LEMO solder therapy group. I was trained to use the METCal systems and when was given the opportunity to fix and build LEMOs i was all over it. Until i was tired of setting up the Panavise and spending hours fixing what eventually became a non breakable but sometimes wonky bluetooth connection now.

Oh the joy the joy......

The cheapest solution I did when I had my tcrp1103 was to buy a dead geb70 or geb141 for almost nothing and go to a batteryshop nearby who replaces ebike batteries. They point weld strokes to connect The cells and you even can put some stronger cells. That keeps the gear spinning for a very long time. Dead battery and new cells placed did cost In total just an 80 or 90 dollars

red measuring tip?ÿ is plus + pin1

black measuring tip is?ÿ minus -?ÿ pin3, looking at the Battery Socket?ÿLemo connector. Voltage was + 12,06V, so i need to charge ????.

Pro tip, If you are going to run the instrument on external power make sure you put a dummy battery in the instrument or calibrate the instrument without a battery in it. Won't matter for ground shots, might for precision work.

@eric-kara

Thank you so much! I would never have thought of that. Thanks! :D?ÿ

?ÿ

Do you know maybe the reason why there is such a difference?

@djdan

I know this is a discussion mostly about cables...

But last year I found the adaptors for my 18v dewalt tools, so I can use the newer 20v max batteries.?ÿ Great because I don't have to replace all of the drills saws and such.

?ÿ

I needed to replace a bunch of lead-acid batteries for static GPS sessions, and I found an adaptor for the 20v dewalt batteries that output 12v, which I can power all of the GPS with.?ÿ 4Ah batteries for the drills get me through all day, and weigh next to nothing compared the the old camcorder batts!

Thanks everyone for help! :D?ÿ

I've already bought original solution from Leica (GEV71). I've found it on OLX (local advertising site) in a price of new Lemo connector + good quality cable. But in the future I will return to the subject for sure so every sugestion I will take into account 😀

?ÿ

Best regards! 😀

Hi,

Could anyone help me with the pin layout of the charger port in a GEB171 battery?
I would like to know Voltage and which pins are used for charging.

TIA
