I just borrowed a Leica TCR 1100 and am trying to connect to SurvCE 2.62.
Checked baud rate parameters, 19200, 8, 1, etc at both ends.
On the instrument is a page to enable "Geocom Online", which I did, and at that point I can initiate a measurement from my data collector (Carlson Mini). However the only way out of that page is to hit "Exit", whereupon I am no longer in Geocom online mode! Is that how it is with the 1100 series - you can't leave that screen once you have a data collector connected? Surely not?
I know the 1100/SurvCE was a popular combo back in the day.
The Geocom version is 1.07, and the gun is from 2002. Is it possible the Geocom version is too old for the SurvCE version?
I have had no problems connecting a TPS 700 (2003), nor a TS06 (2010) to the same data collector and SurvCE version. Neither of which involved any Geocom.
Any insight from anyone who ran that combination would be appreciated.
Thanks

I ran a TCRA1102plus with an Allegro CX running SurvCE 2.62 (I think) for about 4 years.?ÿ I left the gun in GeoCOM online mode and ran everything from the DC.
It's been long enough that I've forgotten most of the details,?ÿ but I think if you exit from GeoCOM online mode you won't be able to talk to the DC anymore.?ÿ Once you're connected, what is it you're not able to do from the DC?

Well I suppose nothing - I'm just suprised, as any other gun I've connected to, I can move through the various screens on the instrument even with a data collector connected. I would have thought you could set Geocom online and then leave that page, not have to stay on that page for it to stay enabled.?ÿ
I do like to see information on the instrument to confirm things, like if I change the prism from the DC, or if I set a specific angle from the DC, to see it confirmed. But if that's how it is, that's how it is.

I should add this is not a robotic 1100 either, I'm standing at the instrument - so if staking a point, SurvCE gives me the angle to turn, but I can't see the angle on the instrument screen to follow, and SurvCE doesn't update the angle reading as you turn the gun either (not with this one anyway)?ÿ - so that's one thing I can't do.
Usually in GEOcom you can still see the Survey interface, it is just being controlled through the DC or PC. The SurveCE/1100 combo that was popular was with the Allegro; using that set up you could see the Survey screen fine but making changes there would of course not change the data being sent to the DC, except setting zero.

Hmm... I don't know what's going on then. Thanks anyway.
You can go to Equip->Configure and enable the option "show continuous total station angles", which should give you a live update of angles on SurvCE screens.?ÿ Note that it may beep like crazy if that particular total station beeps when we read angles.?ÿ I don't remember if it does.
Welcome to the forum, and thanks - unfortunately I was already looking for that very option and I don't see it for the Leica 1100 in SurvCE 2.62.
I do remember it being a option when I ran a Sokkia robot with SurvCE. The numbers were pretty small, as I recall too, for my eyes anyway lol.
And yeah, Leica's like to beep, unless you shut them up entirely...

It's been a few years since I used a SurvCE that old. But, if I'm remembering, select "Leica TPS" and see if that works or gives you a drop down for the 1100.
