Dear Colleagues,

An unexpected misfortune happened to me the other day. So, here is the chronology of the sad and very very sorrowful story...

When I was trying to upload the latest version of the Leica's TPS300 firmware to my instrument using the standard Leica's LGO software, everything was seemed to be going smoothly, except the fact that at the stage of the loading the last file (related to software applications) at 99% of completion, an error message appeared on the screen. The message said that the firmware or the series of the selected instrument was incorrect and also that I was trying to upload the firmware to a wrong instrument or vice versa (upload a wrong firmware to the selected instrument).

After that message the recovery/backup process started. In a minute or less the instrument was shut down automatically. Later, when I pressed the power button trying to turn it ON, I could barely see the Leica's logo on the display and hear the "beep" audio signal as the total station  turned OFF again in half a second.

I tried to connect via COM-port again after that crash to try to upload the firmware again but it was all useless. Now the instrument is not even recognized by the LGO software at all. I got still the same error message: "Wrong or missing instrument....etc."

The main reason of such behavior is that I'd changed some symbols in one of the firmware's file for my experimental purposes.

So, now if I rightly understand the total station has an erased (or may be locked by some kind of a protection system) code sectors in its memory chip so it doesn't boot any of the standard applications and the main menu window.

The main question I'd like to know the answer to is:

Is there any way to try to bring the instrument back to life?

I would be very grateful if you could give me any advice.

Any of your help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I've got a couple of ideas of how to solve this terrible issue but still can't find datasheets of some of the electronic components of the total station.
