I am able to get Trimble access to run the gun via a cable or Bluetooth. It seems to work fine that way but the radio seems to be a lost cause.

I spoke with our equipment rep yesterday about getting the GPS module for SurvCE. I was told that SurvCE will not work with a Leica 1200 series receiver. I am still waiting to talk to someone there who has a bit more technical knowledge to explain to me the reason. If you have a chance could you let me know what type of controller you use and what version of SurvCE you have?
Also, we use a VRS network most days of the week. It sounds like you use a base station for corrections. Have you ever used your setup with a VRS?
