I had some experience with the Paranis that came with my DC50, and decided to see if i could adapt the same technology to the Leica system. A few hundred dollars later I was up and running, and haven't looked back.

So you are still able to use your Leica Instrument without the data collector that has the radio pod??

With that price tag on a repair I can see why you went an alternate route! Seems like an awful lot to replace a radio.

I believe you will have to replace the whole communication side cover if that's the problem, but I could be wrong. The part should be available and priced around $740 if I remember correctly. I would definitely try formatting the system RAM and see if that cures it before resorting to the Leica service department.
