Walked in to my calc'ed position- No CCR on file - No surveys of record. Property to south is USFS. Prop north is Church camp- the prop in question is gov't lots on the North side of the Clark fork.
Here is the GLO-
.
Anyway my stake out location puts me within 5 feet of this pile of stone in the fx line.
.
I looked around for the BT's.- found this stump for the BT to the NW. bearing distance are near the stone mound.
- I dismantled the rock pile and found this-
14"x11"x4"- it's the one that had the piece of ribbon under- (around) it in the top picture.
I hadn't taken any water on my little hike up the hill and had a bit of a tough time working up enough spit to clean the markings.
I probed around to the south for the other BT and found some wood fragments and a soft spot about at GLO record bearing and distance.
Distance -distance intersect was a bit oof of the mound and on undisturbed ground- 2- 3 feet away from the rock pile. I scraped around a bit and found a socket/depression that I believe to be the location where the stone had been originally.
I cleaned it out a bit and re-set the stone with the "1/4" on the North side and raised a nice mound of stone to the south. I scribed a big "+" on top of the stone and did my double ties WITH RTK (Kent Bait). Put a BT tag on the old stump.
I see a bit of pink flagging sticking out from under the rocks in the first picture.....[sarcasm]It has to be the corner right?[/sarcasm]
Nice find! Is "PM,M" Principal Meridian, Montana? Does it have another name or number?

Yes, it is- no it doesn't .
Some people claim such things do not exist. "Never seen one.", they say. Meanwhile, they run around setting shiny new bars claiming incredibly precise location thereof. Then the next guy comes along and finds the shiny bar and assumes it actually means something.
