Is anyone running the new CS20 and experiencing trouble with the WiFi network adaptor? I use the WiFi connection to a Verizon MiFi box to get to a VRS network. Whether it's the MiFi or the WiFi at the office I can get both of my CS20's to see and connect to the internet but the connection drops and reconnects pretty randomly and is far from stable. The same operation works flawlessly on the setup's predecessor CS15. The symptoms make me think it's an issue with the Windows Embedded OS on the CS20 rather than a software problem with Captivate. It happens if I'm in Captivate or not and just using IE. I would love to hear if this is a Me problem or if it's happening to anyone else. Thanks.

I have the same problem with mine and was told if you turn off the bluetooth searching while you are using MiFi or WiFi that is suppose to help. There maybe a firmware upgrade for the CS20 like it was for the CS15 to turn off the bluetooth searching that blows the WiFi away.

just turn off the BT search but leave the BT adaptor on? So the work flow would be turn everything on, connect to the sensor via BT then minimize Captivate and turn off the BT search or is the search setting in Captivate? Has this fix helped your setup operation? Thanks for the info!

I have stopped using the CS20 to run my GS14 and just use it to run the TS16 and still run the GS14 with the CS15, I have not had any problems running the robot with BT.

It hurts me putting the CS20 back in the box for GPS work! How are you liking the TS16? Super cool instrument with the imaging and killer reflectorless range!

Are you using the Mifi specifically for the getting on the VRS? The CS20 has built in CDMA modem that is working very well for us at one of our other offices. I believe the GS14 has it as well. As far as using an external device, I'm not on the VRS here but I have not had a problem when connecting to hotspot (for ftp use) and running the GS15. But we do loose connection when connecting to a hotpsot and also connected to the TS16.

I really like the imaging on the TS16i, it is cool to see yourself taking the shot or touching the screen to get the instrument to turn to something that you want to shoot reflectorless without having to go back to the instrument, but I mainly got it for the killer reflectorless range and being able to tell it to ignore other prisms that are set up when getting shots with the pole.

Mostly for getting on the VRS. I just got the devices registered with Verizon using the internal CDMA modems which seems to be working. My dealer had loaned me his AT&T SIM card which worked flawlessly in the interim so I have no reason to believe the CDMA will work any differently. I had hoped to use the MiFi hotspot because that was our workflow with the prior setup, I am already paying for it and it worked well for field crews to VPN connect their laptops to the office. While not overly expensive to setup new accounts for the CDMA's I was hoping to avoid it. We experienced the same random connection problems while connected to the MS60 so I'm betting ekillo is right and it's some kind of device conflict with the BT radio. Hopefully we'll be in business now. Thanks for the replies.

Hello,

I had issues with my CS20 randomly disconnection from the GS14.

We supect:
Long Range Bluetooth was installed on the controller for use with the TS. When the antenna was connected, the internal bluetooth would be deactivated.
This created a conflict when setting the CS to GPS only mode as it would initiate LRBT when only the internal BT was needed.

The fix: disconnect the antenna when using the CS in GS mode. hasn't happened since.
