I bought a Craftsman Laser Measuring Tool Model 320.48277.

It was only $99 and I only needed a few measurements I couldn't get without a lot of other work. Sounded like a deal.

Well, in less than four feet it's off line by over 3/4" (that's 0.06' for you real surveyors). It sends the beam left and down. Otherwise it works and measures fine. Chasing the red dot gets me what I need.

Does anybody know of they are adjustable?

You get what you pay for, as the old story goes.

What more do you expect really.

I have never seen the Craftsman model, but I have two of the Stanley FatMax laser measurers. The one that takesa 9 volt battery will read in decimal feet. The one that takes either AA or AAA will not. They are both pretty accurate.

I use a Leica Disto; Tiger Supply has a good selection.

Check out some of the features; they have ones that will download directly to a laptop or other device.

Two things I still have after my five year duration working for LGS,
My Leica Point+Shoot C-Lux Digital camera, and my Leica Disto. My old joke is I used to work for Leica, but could never afford to buy any of their products, but I did fork out the ca$h to buy my camera and Disto...

Bob, isn't the C-Lux a re-badged Panasonic? If so, is the Leica version equipped with something that makes it worth the extra cost over the Panasonic cameras? I have a couple of Panasonic cameras with Leica optics, but I didn't see the advantage of buying the Leica versions for almost twice the cost.

I have a Disto too, very nice unit, very good quality measurements, BUT almost worthless outside unless trying to measure under 100 feet, was disappointed in that for the price I paid.

The Leica C-Lux camera has Leica Lens, metal camera body/housing & Leica Serial Number tag. Bought it when I still worked for LGS, rec'd a 50% Discount on the Camera's MRSP price. It's needed one repair, took it to the Leica Camera/Binocular/Spotting Scope shop in Northern NJ, they fixed it under warranty, shipped it back to me, I purchase new battery & charger from the Leica Camera shop. Can't remember how much I paid for the the Disto Special, but same type of deal, employee discount.

Yeah, my Disto is accurate and I like it, but the laser could be a LOT brighter. Can't use it in sunlight at all. Can't really even find the beam in the sun.
