I am looking for some advice on language to describe an obliterated corner for a Certified Corner Record. A recent highway project obliterated a section corner, and all of the references, that I have located several times. I can easily replace this corner, but I am not sure what language I should use on the CCR where it asks "method used to determine corner location."
Replaced using coordinates? Replaced using local evidence, including the plat of shady acres?
Thoughts?
Replaced using evidence left from seven surveys I conducted between 2002-2015 in the immediate area. That is assuming, of course, that you tie in a few of those monuments you set/found that were directly connected to the obliterated monument. Some may be hundreds of feet distant, but, they had better agree with what you are resetting.
Replaced 2017 using record corner coordinates and tie coordinates, per observations of 1/2/2015, etc. to Shady Acres, etc. prior to destruction of corner and ties by highway construction, circa 2016.

Cite record corner location. Skip the word coordinates at all times.
Replaced from previous ties by me and of record to adjacent corners as follows:
Replaced in previous position from existing survey control
Show and describe the now destroyed monument as found, the date you found it, and the control points you tied it from as references. Plus the preexisting references from the last CCR which you found and tied. Because if they weren't there you would have filed a CCR then, right? 😉
Then note that the old monument was destroyed on or about what date, and that you set a new monument from the references.
Thank you for actually filling in the method used area. To often this area is blank. It is hard to accept a position that is not supported by other evidence based on a "because I said so" from another surveyor.
Refer to your other surveys if they are of record. Just stating "Replaced in previous position from existing survey control" really isn't much better than leaving it blank. If your other surveys are not of record describe which ties you used and when you originally surveyed them.
