They say the ride will take 38 minutes. Approximate cost will be between $30 and $35 per person.
When I was on site, they showed me an interesting 10 minute video showing how the thing is going to be constructed.
Once the support frame are up, they erect a temporary support to put up the sections of the rim, which are almost 100 feet long each. They are put in place with temporary trusses that serve as the spokes until the wheel is nearly completed. Then the real spokes, 3 inch diameter cables, will be attached and adjusted.
There are almost as many temporary parts as there are permanent ones.
There is no tie-in to the grid, but the thing will have $7 million worth of LED lights on it, that can be programmed to change colors, light up in different configurations, etc., etc.
It's going to be quite a show.
