Haven't heard much about the success of this feature of the LS.
Did anybody try it other than Shawn?
Camera Offset survey
It was a $ 1500 add on, at the time I bought. It is a FORM of pixelated B/B intersection. It would be very useful, for some surveys. But, until one that I need it for comes along, I have not upgraded to it.
The concept is sound. But, for cadastral boundary work, I don't have alot of need for it.
If I did a few complex surveys of encroachments, and buildings, etc, it would be handy.
I can see it getting used in mapping oil field stuff, and extensive improvements.
I just don't have it. If I did, I might learn ways to use it.

Nate is right on. It's something I have but seldom use. I do a lot of boundary. It is handy if you have projects that have inaccesible areas. I did an ALTA of an old furniture factory last year that I could see it being very useful on. I didn't have it activated at the time.
What is the cost of activation and to keep activation?
Does it have an activation period of time?

It is one time $1500, no subscription.

Extremely cool (sexy cool) video link.
@Shawn Billings, have you tried this somehow inside of a manhole for pipe sizes and invert measure downs?
I will try this out when I get a chance Brad. It would be really cool to measure the interior of the manhole with pipe inverts. I worked for a Civil Engineering company early on and we probably opened thousands of manholes and took pictures, measured inverts with a nasty level rod, looked for Inflow and Infiltration. I despise a sh*t stick.

Camera Offset (photogrammetry) probably would not be a good tool for inverts of a manhole. You've got to get a good geometry of photos around the scene. Since a manhole only offers one hole to view the invert from, it's not likely that you'd be able to get the geometry that you need.
It's a great tool for some applications, but it has its limitations.

Crap (pun intended).
