How many of you will admit to have used one of these?

never seen one, but perfect for the junior high math teacher to show applied sciences. it would enhance future survey interests

I have never seen such a thing but it might be fun to play with, to see how close one could close with one on a dare. Have seen some amazing closures by compass.

All we ever used in trig class were those big wooden protractors and a string or chalk line.

The best teaching aid is something simple and easily read.
