Worst beating I ever got...
My mother said, "I'm sick..."
and I said, "AND TIRED!"

I have never came off with the woe is me attitude.
My beef has always been that the lowballers are raping and prostituting the profession.
Doing work that is 1/2 of its' value??
If you shoot yourself in your own foot - it's your own fault
In this case - if the show fits...
Hey, there is no need for to attack each other. I think we all are in the same boat, and yes it is filling up. Yes the race to the bottom is occuring. Trying to keep some sort of cash flow can not happen with no work and trying to bid a project down can't pay the bills anymore. I think I'm not alone here. There are more surveyors looking for work than I have ever seen in my many years of doing what I do. I'm affraid it is going to get worse, a lot worse. That's how I'm seeing this. What do you think?
I'm beginning to think as soon as I pay my equipment off, is to sell cars. I think that's where I'm headed. I like surveying but not the constant can't get away from it. I want to go hunting in the fall, fishing in the Spring and Summer. I want to have a bit of time to myself. The problem with surveying, it never goes away. But I might do it till I'm 80.

True that
My equipment is paid off and I'm thinking that maybe part time maybe be a viable solution. Do some easy work on the side, maybe farm out some of the work and take a finders fee to work I send other guys.

Hey Robert=
Still Tired
Just wait a week or two
I'm tired, tired of being awone,
Your post just made me think of this, no disrespect intended. I too am tired. I left a job because of unsuitable conditions in April of 2010 and have been looking for a job in another field since September with no luck.
I have to give it to you for hanging in there, of course I am an unlicensed slob, so no comparison to a business owner that has all that responsibility, but times are surely incredibly tough.
I hope this brightens someones day. Julie
> If it's any consolation, I know you are not alone- I have heard many of the items you list being repeated by others in our profession. The wonderful "race to the bottom" that has been propogated in the last few years will take some time to put behind us and has certainly contributed to a number of the issues you list.

Is it me?
or is this the way it's going to be from now on?
