Went to the OIT/BLM workshop in Portland yesterday.
The topic was a 2010 IBLA decision from Sec 31 in Twp 16N, Rng 4W in Washington State. Very informative as to how the IBLA process works and how they evaluate evidence. Was in the company of renowned rpls.com/BEERLEG posters Judson Coppock and Brian Portwood.
The class was structured so that 3 times during the day we broke up into 4 groups to discuss prepared questions/points to ponder.
Usually, if you have 4 surveyors in a room and you ask a question you will end up with 5 or more opinions, but such was not the case yesterday.
Not to say that there weren't some interestting and spirited discussions, but it was a very thought provoking and informative class.
Kudos to Tim Kent, Kyle Hensley, Ron Scherler, John Farnsworth,Mary Hartel, Jay Bently, and anyone else who presented or organized this fine and valuable workshop!
It was truly a bargain at $140.

yes indeed
Hey Scott
I wonder if the Jay Bentley you mention was same guy that used to work with me here in Coos Bay? Did he supply any kind of contact information? Jay was an excellent surveyor and a good friend. Unfortunately, we have lost contact over the years. Last I heard he was applying for a position with WH Pacific in the Olympia area.
