I've been switching over from WinXP to Win7 lately ...

The DeskJet 7000 is one thing I won't miss. I was hoping a driver issue was resolved with the Win7 switch, but it wasn't. This printer has several issues. For one, it will not properly center a drawing on 11X17 paper. And it's not just an AutoCAD plot issue, it won't center a PDF through Adobe, either. And it's not just a little off-center, it's way off-center, left, right, up, down ... so bad that it cuts the border lines off, and no matter how I change the settings, it will not print right. Also, if you use "borderless" printing, it will not print black only. For some reason (even though I've had the "black only" checkbox checked) it prints using all the colors mixed together to make black (I kid you not, you can see stray color dots with a loop), which burns through about two small color cartridges a week ... I've had this printer for 2 years, and I've wrestled with this things for hours trying to get the margins right (in both CAD and the HP settings), and I swear this thing has major flaws and bugs ... it works perfect for letter and legal drawings, but change it to 11X17, and it's as screwy as it gets.

I got it working "good enough" in XP, although I was never happy with the margins, but, after the Win7 switch, I spent 3 or 4 hours, and half a ream of paper, trying to get the margins usable on 11X17 prints, and it flat out will not work for me.

So, I went out and got an Epson 1100 Workforce ... The first 11X17 portrait print was perfectly centered. I used my landscape template, and that was perfect ...

Has anyone had luck with the HP7000?

I got one (7500A All-In-One) about a month and a half ago and have it hooked up wireless on both my Windows XP & Windows 7 computers. Seems to be working just fine with each unit. I had a problem with the initial setup, but HP Tech Support worked me thru the re-install and all works fine. Does a good job printing USGS Quads (PDF's) on 11x17 and centers fine. The only thing that I can't do is plot a Generic Cadd drawing as I need a parallel port or a serial port connection with the software. I have tried to locate a USB to serial or parallel cable with a "B" connection on the other end, but according to the big boys at Belkin & Cables to To Go, they don't make one.
