HP Designjet 430 print quality (Land Surveying)

by Target Locked @, Oostburg, WI, Friday, July 23, 2010, 16:11 (3 days ago)

I have an 8-year old HP 430 (Black only) plotter that has poor print quality. The line work is o.k., but the text looks like it was written by a shaky 95 year old. I've tried changing every setting under the sun and replaced the cartridge.

I'm hoping the 430 is(was) popular enough that someone might have some advice.

I know, I know, buy a new one. Not in the cards right now.

Target, here are the instructions for the Black Cartridge Alignment Sheet:

1. Load a 8.5" X 11" sheet in the portrait position.

2. When the ready light is on and steady, press Setup and Form Feed keys
simultaneously.

3. When Load Media light comes on the print is finished, remove sheet.

4. Follow instructions on printed sheet.

5. Reverse the sheet as indicated and reload.

6. When ready light comes on, press Setup.

7. When the Load Media light comes on again, remove sheet and make sure that the
sure printer has marked your selection with a check mark. Done.

Sorry to be so long with this, but I was out of the office when you asked and only got back today.

what changed? If yo arr using the same confuser, software, then it sounds like a hardware problem. If you have a new confuser it sounds like a driver problem,

Hey, thanks, Jud. I'll give it a try.

Thanks, Jud. I made adjustments to the alignment and tweaked some other settings and I now have a functioning plotter again.

I forgot about that alignment procedure.
