The way I've done it in the past is using pile coordinates then off setting them x amount to reach outside of formwork. I was just wondering if there is any other common ways people have done it.

On land or over water?

on land. this is what I mean.

this is what I have to work from. I have the pile centre co-ords and another drawing saying it's 300 from centre to edge of shutter.

does anyone set these ground beams out by marking beam centres on piles/junctions ? I typically have done corners, but these drawing looks as if it's been designed with centers in mind.

I set double offsets, the distance determined by the nature of the work and the contractor requirements. Offsets range from 3' to 20'.

The problem with laying out true positions is they get destroyed in construction. Inevitably that means the surveyor gets blamed when things are built wrong (store all your staked points !).

Wait until the concrete is in place (or am I missing something)?

this is for the shuttering itself that the concrete is poured into over the top of the piles.

There's plinth on some of the front elevation so there's very little scope for error on parts.

Oh okay, roger that. I am spoiled, the local concrete guys just form that stuff up with a cloth tape while walking around with the plans in hand.
