Hello!! I??m from india, i completed by civil engineering degree and want to pursue my career in surveying. I was confused to which total station i should buy. : SOKKIA IM55 or GEOMAX ZIPP10. Your suggestion/advice would mean a lot. Thank you.
What do you plan to do with it?
Basic surveying, boundary/area surveys, column/footing stakeout.
I had no idea you could post a thread title this long. No information on the total station though
I like Sokkia and the IM52 would be my choice, it is a 2 second gun, the IM55 is a 5 second gun.
Both can be set to display to 1 second if wanted.
My personal TS are the Set30R series guns and they are at end of production.
I also have a Set 4 and an SDM3E manual TS and each and every one has been great guns and has consistently given me great closures.

Haha, it was my first post and i had no clue.
I don't know about those specific models, but if the choice is between those 2 brands I'd rather be hitching my wagon to the Geomax train.?ÿ
I guess i will hop on the same train,
furthurmore sokkia im55 is costing $3700 and geomax is around $3100. Both having same features.
I recently purchased a GeoMax Zoom 40. I considered the Zipp10 Pro; but, with the 40, I can use an external data collector with Carlson SurvCE. The price difference is significant, though!
Posted this on the other thread, but as usual, this is the one that got traction.
Cannot speak to the GeoMax Zipp 10, although a quick look at their datasheet shows similar characteristics to the Sokkia iM series.
The Topcon GM-50 series and the Sokkia iM-50 series are the same instrument with a different user interface.?ÿ The Topcon version has a user interface intended to mimic the simple interface of the GTS-200/310 and later models, except that the keypad has full numeric/alpha capabilities where some of the earlier Topcon models did not.?ÿ The Sokkia iM-50 has the user interface that has been typical of Sokkia's basic total stations for over 20 years.
These instruments can be ordered in two configurations:?ÿ the models we always order feature both Bluetooth & laser plummet.?ÿ There is a slightly lower priced configuration that does not have Bluetooth and has an optical plummet.?ÿ If the laser plummet and wireless connectivity are important, you should as for that version.?ÿ Both versions are offered in 2" and 5" models.
I don't really remember. That sounds cheap, though. It's hard to find a used reflectorless for that.
