Does anyone know of a way to get the data from an old hardware lock that is plugged into an LPT1 port onto a flash drive of some kind to trick old programs?

PacSoft just isn't liking Windows 7. It's fine in lite mode, but won't let me use more than 10,000 points without the dongle. This is problematic as I have three files with 16,000 points each we use VERY regularly.

Sure, I know, Carlson doesn't care, and I use Carlson, but my dad doesn't and he wants PacSoft. Up until now, I've been able to invent new physics that have allowed me to "beat the animal", but I haven't been able to whip this one yet.

Safe Key

Try these folks. They can emulate your hardware key lock, and probably help you work with the new operating system.

Have you installed the most recent driver from the lock manufacturer? I'm successfully running Star*Net on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit using the same parallel port dongle I've had for years.

Another possibility

There are USB to Parallel cables you can buy. Could you plug your dongle into one of those and then into a USB? I know I have a couple of printers that use this set-up. No idea if this would work, but it's a possibility.

Kris, I worked with Carlson at one to time to get an import routine (Pacsoft --> Carlson) working properly. However the next release broke the routine. I'm sure they could easily get it working again if you called them.

Get those files converted to Carlson ASAP!

Sheese Pacsoft is SOOOO old school.
