I was recently informed of the Leica GS14 integrated GSM modem. I was aware of the UHF radio built in, but hearing it had an integrated GSM modem was new. I was under the impression that the GSM modem was more so needed in the data collector as that is what connects to the internet and what not. I have had no problem with the Leica CS15 and SmartWorx, however we just upgraded another data collector and I would like to use the integrated GSM modem in the GS14 with it as the other data collector does not have a GSM modem. Has anyone here had any experience with the internal GSM modem in the GS14 and how to engage it? I have done what I thought was necessary, i.e. tell the antenna which port, IP address, username and password to connect to under the GSM function to connect to, but all I get is "Initialization failed" and the antenna never even blinks my desired green. Any info you all can provide would great.

are you suing the rtk rover wizard? i think one of the first questions it asks is what you are using to connect.
you might need to run the internet connection wizard first. (not sure of that is the right name)

we use them in preference to the CS15 modem as the extra elevation helps.

Have you set the modem up with a cellular data service? If using Verizon this would be a M2M (machine to machine) data plan. Without a cell data stream to receive corrections from you'll be dead in the water.

Thanks! The sales guy from FLT set all this up for us a few years ago and we never had any problems, but now I am tasked with getting it all running..Okay, I believe the missing link is the SIM card. Always learning.... I have little knowledge of how SIM cards actually work, even though they are in every cell phone I've ever had. Next question, and probably a stupid one but that's how you learn. We have been using Florida's FPRN DOT network, with secure username/password access to the ip address and ports, will the SIM need to be formatted or should it be plug and play with the card installed?Unfortunately I will not be able to attempt this again until Monday morning...

You should be able to take the card out of the CS15 and place it in the antenna. You may need to get with your equipment dealer on how to configure your new controller.

If it is a new enough GS14 there will also be a CDMA modem built into it. Just depends on where you live and which service provider is stronger. Here in Utah and Idaho, Verizon is stronger so we use the integrated CDMA. I have one receiver running both. This way I can switch between them. Works great
