?ÿSE side of Hawaii Island still erupting.?ÿ That hill (Fissure8) spewing lava was as same grade as the road on May 3. This is a view of backside of infamous Fissure8 which is source of an 8 mile elevated river of lava to the sea.?ÿ

There are MANY cracks and crevices like this throughout this area.

Retracing will be quite a task for future surveyors. This looks like as if its not to end soon, but when it does, the area will be inhabited again, IMO. The rainforest will reclaim and 100's of farms and rural lots to be re-established.

Would be fun to see, I'll be there in a few weeks, don't know if we'll have time to go there but it does look interesting. How close do they let the public get?

MMoe- no public viewing at this time,e xcept by heli-tour or boat tour from private tour companies. That may change in few weeks. County is considering a site fpr public viewing.

The heli-tour sounds like the best bet. Might give it a shot.
