OK guys,
Here's the story:
I was collecting static data on control points all day yesterday with Trimble 4800 receivers.
Typically, I only store one point in the controller per control point, but yesterday, I thought what the heck I might as well store two points and compare the solutions. So, after about 45 minutes, I store the first point. Then, I changed the point name, started measuring again, and stored another point after about 45 more minutes.
When I transferred the data to my computer, I only had one .dat file per control point (I should have two, because I stored two different points).
Next, I convert the files to rinex, and send them to OPUS. Guess what opus sends back to me:
1014 The RINEX data submitted to OPUS contains data taken from more than one
1014 location. This can be verified by opening up your RINEX file and
1014 searching for "MARKER". OPUS will only process data taken from one
1014 location. Try separating the data into individual files and then
1014 re-submit the data
1014 Aborting...
1014
OPUS suggests that I separate the data into individual files, but I have NO IDEA HOW TO DO THIS!!!
Does anyone know how to separate the data into individual files? I tried opening the file and editing it, but OPUS would not accept that either (for a different reason, of course).
I know that there is such thing as data trimming software, but I really don't have time to learn how to use it. Does anyone know of any tech companies/geeks that could trim/edit my data (for a reasonable fee) so that OPUS would accept them?
Any advice could save me a lot of time and heartache.
Thanks!
Is your data already in Rinex format such that you can open it with Notepad and be able to see all the individual time stamps and readings, as opposed to a bunch of gibberish? If so it shouldn't be all that hard to separate them out. Up at the top of the file should be the header, followed by the individual observations. Each of the observations begins with a time stamp, followed by a line of observation data for each of the satellites being tracked. You can cut and paste from this section all you want, just as long as you edit the "time of first observation" up in the header to exactly match the time of your first reading. The rest of the header should be left alone.
You can also email me your file if it's in Rinex format, I should be able to separate them out in under a minute. If you still need to convert it to Rinex there is a free utility to do this called teqc - it's a command-based program though, so probably more of a learning curve than you're willing to deal with for just one file.
Justin,
I have converted them to Rinex. Can I send you my Rinex files? There are just three of them. I would be forever grateful!
What's your email?
Thank you thank you thank you

No problem, send them on over. I didn't realize that my email wasn't listed in my posts before, but there should be a link to it now.
Nevermind, it looks like you can't include attachments if you email me through the forum. You can just send the files to: justin "at" maloneygeo.com
Hey guys,
Try TEQC Editor at teqc.silkwerks.com.
It is pretty easy to use and has slider bars to window in on the times that you want to cut out of an observation file.
if you have problems with it you can email me at:
