Recently I have been on a quest to further our small company in Jupiter, FL to the modern era of streamlined field to product. I have learned how certain networks operate and what makes them go. Recently, I thought I came across a deal. A Leica 2009 ATX 1230+ antenna. Upon presenting interest to the seller, I was told we need a special license to make it work with the collector I wished to pair it with. I had hoped to pair this antenna with our Leica CS15 with smartworx, while using our Leica GS14 and integrated GSM modem with a new Juniper systems MESA tablet, as that would allow us to use the CS15 and GS14 modems individually with individual SIM cards. However, I am told this Leica ATX antenna is not compatible with the Leica CS15. I see no conflicts in the specs. Seems like a deal to me, as I see a 5k difference in what is and what could be from what the "dealer" has proposed. Has anyone found a compatibility list of software to equipment? I would like to not rely off of the salesperson and know as much as possible from the folks that use the stuff on a day to day basis and strictly use the salesperson as a means of acquiring the equipment, not as a tutorial.
Thanks,
Brian
As I understand it, the ATX 1230+ isn't just an antenna, it's a receiver-antenna combination. That complicates the communication parameters with the controller considerably, so it's not really surprising that Leica may have dropped support for an 8-year-old receiver from their controller software.

Brian, you were told right.

this is viva smartworx 6.04 showing the GNSS sensor connection options

when we got our first CS15 i tried my best to connect them. i really wanted it to happen, but, no dice. i'd like to think that if it was possible then i'd have managed. you'll need to buy a used rx1250 to run it. perhaps you could ask microsurvey if their software fieldgenius running on the CS15 might do it.

I guess some deals are too good to be true. Thank you.
I have 2 good leg ant antennas.
They went with my legacy e's.
Im keeping em, to make external mounted antenna, for atv/utv.
Since they are topcon's but javad made, they are on the list of "compatable external antennas".
Find out who made what, and you may find a list, that does work.

Unlike the ATX 1230+, the LegAnt is just an antenna, so the connection is simple. The "supported" part in this case pertains to phase center modeling, not to bi-directional communications as in the case of the ATX 1230+.
Having been an ATX1230 user since they came out, I can tell you that nothing will work with ATX1230 other than the RX1250. It seems that not all of the receiver is inside of the GNSS head, it needs the measurement engine found only on the RX. I'm sure it is just a firmware thing since they sold a different flavor of the ATX that would work as a network only rover with various data collectors. I ended up purchasing GS16s and a CS20 since the GS16 will not work with my CS15. That one really ticks me off since the GS16 is stand alone.
