Best sentence on the thread IMO. In 35 years I've never left a 'gap' on a map. The closest thing to it was half of a canal Right-of-Way that contained a maintenance road. The client took us off the job before we could determine if it was a reservation or an oversight.
Trace back to parcel creation and overlay the actions of the owners (in legal date order). The answer will probably jump out at you...
