I know a dumb guy who got arrested for counting in public to twenty-one on his fingers, toes...

It is clumsy to say the least. On the TI 89, it's still somewhat clumsy, but consistent. My big problem with the 83/84 is that they round seconds to 3 decimal places. The 89 does not, so it's usable for geodetic work.
Math Teacher nice post above on different base systems.

Nah, us PLSSian's are just waiting for ya'll "Texans" to screw everything up so bad that the PLSS system will be instituted by the GLO. 😉

You really went there. Now I will return to working on a metes and bounds plan with record deeds missing courses and calling for stakes from 100+ years ago near the edge of a swamp turned active cranberry bog. And of course, none of the parcels are square.
If the PLSS Surveyors want to keep bringing up how hard the Surveying in Texas is, I will keep reminding them how easy it is in PLSS

I have a Niece that, as a child, learned to count to 25 on her fingers, toes and face. Ear, eye, nose, eye, ear, added 5 objects to count. You could see her face twitching as she went thru them in her mind.

I am sure everyone whose homes flooded and lost everything they owned, and those families that lost loved ones are laughing at your joke.

We have had a prohibition on new construction in the SFHA for 3 decades. Apparently 7000 news homes were constructed in the SFHA in the Dallas area since 2010.

Typically old man bully response, make a joke about people's misfortune, then when called out on it, doesnt admit he was insensitive, and apology for it, Instead we wants to fight about it.

Well, I'm glad to hear you are still feeling frisky, Scott. Best of luck with everything.
Speaking of Houston surveyors, I hope Jack Chiles and others are okay.

The Compromise of 1850 ceded our lands north of the present day Texas boundary (some of Colorado, some of Oklahoma) in exchange for some of our public debt. Plus Texas kept our "public" lands and built our Public School Lands from that. Then OUR GLO records their official field notes in VARAS. How will that fit in with the PLSS system? 😉
